My name is Halfdan Halfear. It’s pronounced HAL-dan HALF-ear. For some reason, the people at The Sanctuary in Haffsville, who rescued me from a cat colony (you can read more about my story on the About page), insisted on calling me Jet. So, unfortunately, I get called Jet by almost everyone. They tell me it’s because I’m a black cat. Personally, I find it not royal enough.
If you’ve read any T. S. Eliot, you know that Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats clearly states that all cats have three names. So I won’t ever disclose my secret name, but I really prefer Halfdan Halfear. It makes me sound like a Viking warrior and, let me tell you, I’m a very fierce mouser. Too bad Mr. Eliot has passed away, I know he would have loved to have written about my mousing skills.
Oskar, my older brother cat, is a creamsicle colored cat. He got his name because reportedly he looks Swedish, and he’s a bit of a grouch. He really doesn’t like to play and gets upset with me and my other brother WuTu any time we try to get him to exercise.
My other brother, WuTu, got his name because he acts and looks, uncannily like another cat my humans once had (he’s in cat heaven now) named Woozle. So, WuTu is for Woozle Two. He’s an Oriental cat (really he’s a Ninja cat) and very quick on his feet.
WuTu and I are both seven. I’m the biggest cat and pretty much rule the house. What’s your name? Send me a note and I’ll get my human mom to respond.
This blog has been created by my human mom, whose name is Kat, by the way, as part of her Web Design II class at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. She’s really into you eye and you ex (whatever those are) as she gets really frustrated at work with how some computer software works. And, don’t get her started on something called wayfinding. She’s into that too. I think it has to do with signs. She’s really hoping to learn more about customizing web sites and especially about something called JavaScript (maybe coffee?). So, if you happen to be in that class and are following along here, she says she’d love feedback. She does listen very well; she obeys all my commands especially when I get her up to feed us.
